Advocacy at the Intersection of Latinx, Queer, & Trans Identities

This session will feature Latina Transgender speaker and activist Bamby Salcedo, who will deliver the closing keynote address for the inaugural Latinx Connect conference. Bamby is a nationally and internationally recognized activist, community organizer and social justice advocate and professional who will inspire us. Bamby’s story as an immigrant, survivor, and TransLatina drives her passion as an educator and activist. Bamby will be joined by scholar-activist-educators Anita Revilla, Eddy Alvarez, and Rosalynne (Rose) Montoya who will engage in a conversation with Bamby about activism and advocacy within the Latinx community at the intersection of multiple identities including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and immigration. They will discuss jotería scholarship, social media activism, and living authentic queer lives through community, friendship, and joy.
